Beyond Medical Expertise: The Crucial Role of Emotional Intelligence and Soft Skills in Excelling as a Doctor or Nurse

Healthcare, though on the outside seems like a more technical profession, it is also a people-oriented profession. Patients come to doctors and nurses with their physical as well as emotional needs, and it is the job of healthcare professionals to provide proper care and support in a compassionate and empathetic manner. This requires a high level of emotional intelligence and emotional resilience, which is the ability to identify, understand, and manage one’s own emotions, as well as the emotions of others.

It’s through soft skills that Doctors and Nurses are able to transform from ‘The Doctor’ and ‘The Nurse’ to ‘My Doctor’ and ‘My Nurse’.
